Dr. Charlotte Fontenot was born and raised in a small community outside of the Greater Houston Area; Kohrville, Texas. With the progressive growth of areas in and around Houston, Kohrville is now considered Houston, Texas.
Dr. Fontenot is the proud daughter of Mr. Charles L. Wilson, Sr. and Mrs. Hattie Pearl Carter Wilson. It was with their encouragement and guidance that she is the person that God created her to be today. Because of her love for education, she has obtained a degree in Elementary Education, a master’s degree in Special Education and another in Mid-Management, an Early Childhood Certification, and a Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership. Her work experience includes working in North forest ISD and Cypress Fairbanks ISD as an educator and administrative positions. After retiring from the public school system, she is now imparting knowledge at the Higher Education sector; which includes Houston Community College, University of Phoenix, Sam Houston State University, and Walden University.
While working in the public and private school settings for over 25 years, Dr. Fontenot found her greatest joy in working with students with disabilities; mainly those on the Autism Spectrum. Because of the enormous number of children that are being diagnosed with Autism, there is a greater need for teachers and school personnel to equip themselves with the tools necessary to assist the students with success. She is a firm believer that all children can learn, regardless of their disability. It was this love of working with students with special needs that inspired her to open a Bed and Breakfast for Students with Disabilities. This is a place where parents can take a little R and R and know that their loved one is being taken care of.
In addition to working alongside her father’s side with Unity Love Tour, as the President, she is also the President of The Accomplishers; which was founded and organized by the late, Mrs. Hattie Pearl Carter Wilson; who was one of the original Houston Harmonettes. The Accomplishers strive to support all congregations, regardless of denomination, in any way possible. One of the main objectives of the group consists of providing college scholarships to individuals pursuing higher education.
Dr. Charlotte Fontenot is a proud member of New Light Christian Center Church; where the pastors are Bishop I.V. Hilliard and First Lady Bridget Hilliard. She has been a faithful member for over 19 years. Under their leadership, Dr. Fontenot serves as a faithful choir member, praise team member, and one of the original singers in Light Voices of Praise.
